Lithosphere-asthenosphere dynamics

At CICTERRA we study the processes that govern lithospheric mobility, both horizontally and vertically, including paleogeographic reconstructions, orogenic formation, continental crust formation and recycling, and topography generation (landform and basins). This line involves understanding the simultaneous interaction of several processes from multiple disciplines:

  • Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, Basin Analysis
  • Mineralogy
  • Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology
  • High-temperature and isotopic geochemistry
  • Geochronology
  • Tectonics and Structural Geology
  • Volcanology and Volcanic Risk
  • Dynamic geomorphology
